The crown chakra is the seventh chakra in the energy system. It is pure consciousnes, wisdom, and awareness. It is associated with the all-knowing and all-being. This chakra is located at the crown of the head, hence the name. It us to the universe just as our first chakra, the root chakra, connects us energetically to the ground. Another name for the crown chakra is the sahasara, which translates to thousand petal lotus. The symbol of the crown chakra is a thousand petal lotus with a circle in the middle, commonly depicted with the OM symbol.

The sound of the crown chakra is OM, the musical note is B. The crown chakra is also associated with transcending the limitations of form. This is why it is also associated with bliss. When this chakra is closed, the mind can become closed, obsessive, and neglectful of the physical realm. In the body the crown chrakra is associated with the pineal gland and the hypothalamus which regulates the endocrine system. It is also associated with the brain, cerebral cortex, and nervous system. This explains why it is important to be connected to your crown chakra. Let’s explore ways to strengthen this connection.

The sahasara is the gateway to the higher self. A quick way to access it is through feeling gratitude and compassion. Similar to the universal law of attraction, the sahasara represents the unseen force of the universe. When in balance we feel inner peace and tranquility. When out of balance- we feel anxiety, disconnected, and dissatisfied. How do you balance an unbalanced crown chakra? The best way to heal your crown chakra is to practice meditation.

When you meditate, I recommend using your breath as a tool to slow your thoughts. Be aware of negative thought patterns that may be limiting and blocking your divine flow of energy. An easy and productive way to balance your crown chakra is to deep clean your home or create an alter with crystals associated with the crown chakra such as labradorite, malachite, or selenite. Chanting OM or praying to a higher power is a nice way to connect with this chakra. Repeating the mantra I am open and I receive is a great way to make your connection stronger and more potent.

When I feel out of touch I like to connect with nature. It's very healing for the chakras if you go out in the sun. You could also go on a hike, or go look at the stars and connect with the universe at night. The crown chakra reminds us to dream and imagine, and to embrace the present moment. It whispers to us to live our dreams. In the process of surrendering to something greater then yourself, you set yourself free....you have the key.

Try these cyrstals and scents to connect with the crown chakra: Malachite, Quartz, lumarian quartz, amythst, kyanite, labradorite to connect to the crown chakra: lotus, sandalwood, myrrh.

The third eye chakra is the sixth chakra in the energy system. It is also known as the brow chakra. This chakra deals with our relationship with our inner selves. How our thoughts shape the world around us. Thoughts are things and they are formed by the Anja which translates to command center. Do you listen to you inner guidance? The third eye brings clarity into our lives. The planet associated with the third eye is Jupiter which represents luck and expansivness. The symbol of the third eye is a downward triangle with a two petaled lotus on each side.

The third eye is how we see the world, our perception. When the this chakra is out of balance we feel fear, confusion, and our minds become small and inflexible. When it is overactive we become over-analytical, critical, and overwhelmed. The third eye is also associated with the brain and pituitary gland in addition to the eyes and ears. To help activate the third eye you can use the mantra: I am open to the divine wisdom within me. Study the one who study's. You can't lose if you stay present and open to what is.

Different ways to strengthen our connection with our Ajna is to meditate with stones such as lapis lazuli, amethyst, and quartz. Wearing silver also helps protect the third eye. Another great mantra for the third eye is Om~Shanti~Shanti~Shanti which promotes peace in the mind, body, and spirit. A mudra, or specific finger placement, can help promote concentration. For example, put your first finger and thumb together, this creates a concentration point. When we focus our the connection between the two fingers we begin to feel the subtle energy in the body. Building your focus and mental strength is the key to balancing the third eye.

When I feel out of touch with myself and my inner knowing, I like to write. I express myself in a journal or through song writing. Ask yourself questions and self-reflect, and many times I’m surprised by the answer! I recommend setting aside time for yourself throughout the week to reconnect with yourself and inner knowing. My favorite crystal to use is lapis lazuli. Practicing your psychic abilities is alway a fun way to keep you third eye strong. Have you noticed, if you spend a lot of time with someone, you can become mentally linked? (Especially if you practice!) This allows for subtle or not so subtle psychic communication.

Through befriending ourselves inwardly, we make our outer world a more positive reflection. We can actually choose to see our environment as a more peaceful place. The magic of life is within us. Wake yourself to the opportunity to choose consciousness and growth in every moment. You have the power.

Crystals and scents you can use to activate your the third eye: lapis lazuli, amethyst, quartz, kyanite, labradorite, fluorite, jasmine, lavender, sage.

The throat chakra is the fifth chakra in the energy system. It is through this energy center that we communicate, create and express our truth in the world. This is how our emotions are expressed audibly. Another name for the throat chakra is Vishuddha or vishuddi which means especially pure or purity. This chakra is connected with the planet Mercury, the planet of communication. The symbol of the throat chakra is a sixteen petal lotus with a circle in the middle, commonly depicted with downward triangle and a symbol of the fifth element, aether.

The sound of the throat chakra is HAM, the musical note is G. This chakra is associated the color blue and turquoise. The vishuddha is located at the throat, and associated with the neck, sinus, ears and respiratory system. It is also associated with the thyroid and endocrine system. The throat chakra rules both the throat and the ears. So it is important to note that listening is a critical part of balanced communication and an open throat chakra. When this chakra is healthy your self-expression is both free and balanced with the people around you.

A quick way to access the fifth chakra is humming and singing. Sit with a friend or family member and listen to them with complete presence. When we feel like we are heard we are able to communicate our truth more openly. When this chakra is out of balance our communication becomes confusing. For example, someone might use more words, but still lack clarity in what they are trying to say.

When this chakra is blocked we feel like our creativity and self expression is blocked. Since the throat chakra is associated with the thyroid and under- active throat chakra might result in an under-active thyroid. Resulting in sluggishness, weight gain, and all that comes with an unhealthy thyroid.

How do keep your throat chakra healthy? The best way to heal your throat chakra is to express your truth and listen with presence. When you express your true emotions you unblock and strengthen your throat chakra.

In my experience with the throat chakra I found that it is closely related to the second chakra, the sacral chakra. The sacral chakra is located in the lower belly and relates to our emotions our gut feelings. When our second chakra is out of balance, our feelings are out of balance. This can cause a reaction in the way we express our selves through the throat chakra. For example, when we bottle up our true emotions our throat chakra becomes under-active and blocked. When our emotions are out of control our throat chakra becomes over active. The next thing you know you are talking over all your friends and family, and unable to listen to what they have to say.

My favorite thing to do to heal the throat chakra is to sing. When I sing a song that I feel expresses my emotions. it feels good! The more you sing the stronger your voice becomes- and the more you are in tune with your diaphragm and belly breathing. Singing helps us align with are true expression. This can also happen when we talk about and share our true passions with others. The throat chakra reminds us to be honest, to express and embrace ourselves. Sing your song! It is within.
