yoga info

Yoga. Many are confused by the intentions of this foreign practice with the funny words. Or stunned by the acrobatic photos on instagram. Others are using yoga as a means to look good and stay fit. However, once you get into it, you might discover that there is a path to self discovery and healing. Yoga really is all of the above, and that's why I find it a lot like life-  is what you make it.

What is Yoga?

Yoga means to yoke. Union, to join. Yoga is the balance of the opposites.

Joining the mind and body with spirit. The word spirit comes from the Latin word Spirare which means to breathe. Joining the mind and body in motion with the breath. Vinyasa translates to: movement with breath

What type of yoga should I do?

The type of yoga I primarily practice and teach is Hatha Yoga

Other types of yoga I incorporate in to my teaching are:

Karma: the yoga of action

Bhakti: the yoga of devotion

Jana: the yoga of wisdom

Raja: the royal path of yoga

What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha Yoga is designed to bring balance to the mind and physical body. The goal of Hatha Yoga is enlightenment. To bring the "lower mind" or ego to a higher understanding of the deeper aspects of ourselves.

Do I need to meditate?

The physical practice of yoga or asana is only one step in the process of yoga. Although it is yoga, the physical practice is a tool to help us become still and meditate, traditionally. I highly reccommend having a regular mediation practice.

What do I need to practice yoga?

Wear comfortable clothing. Bring water, towel, and a journal.

  • yoga mat

  • 2 yoga blocks and a strap

  • 2 yoga blankets

  • bloster

Why do you practice yoga?

I started my yoga practice because I was stressed out. I have a tendency to overthink. After practicing yoga I experienced a whole new state of mind, balance and awareness. I became a personal coach to others and I knew I must help others find the same peace and fulfillment I have found on my self-discovery journey. Learn more about my yoga journey here.
